RSM Mediation Services
Conflict is unavoidable in life, but it does not have to be a burden. Actually, conflict can be a healthy part of the human experience! Learning skills to respond to and come to resolution with conflict of any kind is beneficial for everyone. When it comes to family law cases, it’s personal. Your roles as a parent, partner and wage-earner are affected, but will these changes make a positive or a negative impact going forward? It’s my goal to help both parties with the former.
RSM Mediation's Mission
At RSM Mediation Services, I believe conflict resolution is essential to the human experience. Conflict does not escape any of us, nor is it the enemy. In fact, conflict can be a great way to explore opportunities for agreements that serve folks far beyond the four corners of a typed Agreement!
Parenting Plan
Let's work together to come up with a schedule that works for both parties and their kiddos. A Parenting Plan is a document that outlines the parenting time schedule that should take into account the child(ren)'s age(s), needs and maintaining as close to the status quo as possible. When kids are involved, they are the #1 priority.
Support Payments
While calculations for support do follow guidelines, this does not limit some creativity. It is important to individualize any support payments to mirror the current situation and needs of all individuals. Specifically for maintenance (the verbiage for alimony in Colorado), the duration and amount can be tailored to fit the needs of the family.
Division of Debts and Assets
Colorado is not a 50/50 division state; it is an equitable division state. This means that so long as the agreement is fair, the Court's involvement will be more limited. We can work on several unique arrangements to satisfy both parties to start their new lives on equal footing. These agreements can be memorialized in a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") or a Separation Agreement.
